FAQ

Thank you for your interest in our RareInc Program. Below are the answers to our most frequently asked questions. We encourage you to contact us if you have further questions.

Do you accept applications from organizations outside the United States?

Yes. RareInc welcomes applications from organizations and founders based both within and outside the United States. We value global perspectives and recognize that rare disease communities and solutions exist worldwide.

Does my organization need to be formally registered to apply?

No. While some participating organizations are formally registered nonprofits or entities in their home countries, this is not a requirement to apply. Early-stage initiatives, fiscal sponsorships, informal collectives, and organizations in the process of registration are all encouraged to apply.

My organization is not focused on U.S. policy or advocacy. Is RareInc still relevant?

Absolutely. RareInc supports a wide range of organizational needs beyond policy and advocacy, including strategy, organizational development, leadership, fundraising, communications, and community engagement. Advocacy looks different across regions, and support is tailored to your context and goals.

How does mentorship work in the RareInc program?

Each participating organization is matched with a primary mentor who serves as a consistent point of contact throughout the program. Additional RareInc team members may provide guidance or expertise as needed to best support your organization’s growth and priorities.

How does RareInc support organizations across different time zones and regions?

RareInc works with organizations across multiple regions and time zones. We strive to create flexible, accessible communication and meeting schedules whenever possible and approach global collaboration with respect for regional differences and lived experiences.

Is English fluency required to participate?

English is the primary language used within the program. However, we aim to communicate clearly and accessibly and welcome applicants for whom English is not a first language.

Are micro-grants guaranteed as part of the program?

No. While micro-grant opportunities may occasionally be available depending on program funding, they are not guaranteed and are not a required or expected component of participation in RareInc.

If RareInc is not the right fit, will I receive guidance?

When possible, yes. If RareInc determines that we are not the best fit for your organization at this time, we will do our best to suggest alternative resources or next steps that may better support your goals.
