2025 GC Connexons Rare Disease Internship Program Application

Internship Details:
  • Duration: 6 weeks (with an option to continue volunteering afterwards)
  • Time Commitment: 5-20 hours per week, depending on project needs
  • Weekly Component: Informational interviews with rare disease patients and caregivers (these often occur during business hours based on guest availability)

  • Ongoing Mentorship & Networking with genetic counselors, advocacy leaders, and patient communities
  • One Free 1:1 Personal Application Coaching Session focused on incorporating and highlighting your internship experience in your GC applications
Required Qualifications:
  • Completion of at least one upper-division genetics or psychology course
  • Strong interest in rare disease advocacy and/or genetic counseling
  • 1-2 years of prior work or internship experience
  • Self-motivated, independent worker with strong project management skills
  • Detailed-oriented and organized
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)
Application Process:
  • Application Deadline: Rolling admissions until positions are filled
  • Decision Timeline: Expect a response withing 2 weeks of submission
  • Program Fee: $1200
